Who We Are

GM CERTIFIED. DEALER TRAINED. INDEPENDENTLY OWNED.

You don't need to pay dealership rates to get dealership-quality work. We bring the same training, the same tools, and the same standards — without the service department markup.

Our Story

THE DEALERSHIP ALTERNATIVE

After years working inside GM dealership service departments, we saw the same pattern repeat: customers paying premium labor rates for work that any certified technician could perform — often with more care and attention than a high-volume shop floor allows.

We opened our own operation in Dallas-Fort Worth to give GM truck and SUV owners a better option. Same GM-specific diagnostic tools. Same factory training. Same parts standards. But with the accountability that only comes from an owner who personally touches every vehicle.

Our focus narrowed quickly to the L84 and L87 platform — the 5.3 and 6.2 engines found in Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade. These engines have a well-documented AFM/DFM lifter failure issue that dealerships often misdiagnose or over-quote. We've done hundreds of these repairs. We know exactly what to look for, what to replace, and how to prevent recurrence.

Credentials

CERTIFIED & QUALIFIED

GM Certified Technician

Factory-trained and certified through General Motors' technician development program. We hold current GM certifications covering powertrain, diagnostics, and advanced engine systems.

Dealership-Trained

Years of hands-on experience inside GM franchise dealership service departments before going independent. We know the systems, the TSBs, and the failure patterns from the inside.

GM-Specific Diagnostic Tools

We use the same GM Tech2 and GDS2 diagnostic platforms used by dealerships — not generic OBD scanners. This means accurate fault codes, live data, and proper calibration procedures.

L84 / L87 Specialist

Hundreds of AFM/DFM lifter and camshaft repairs on the 5.3 and 6.2 platforms. This is our most common repair and the one we know better than anyone in DFW.

Our Specialty

THE L84 / L87 LIFTER PROBLEM

The Active Fuel Management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) systems on GM's 5.3 and 6.2 engines are notorious for lifter collapse and camshaft lobe wear. GM has issued multiple TSBs on this issue, and it affects millions of trucks and SUVs on the road today.

Common Symptoms

  • Lifter tick or knock at startup or under load
  • Misfire codes on AFM cylinders (4, 6, 7 on V8)
  • Oil consumption without visible leaks
  • Camshaft lobe wear from collapsed lifter contact
  • Check engine light with cylinder deactivation codes

The Permanent Fix

We perform full camshaft and lifter replacement with AFM/DFM delete to prevent recurrence — the only permanent fix. We've refined this repair to a precise process that restores your engine and eliminates the root cause.
